ANTIBACTERIAL EFFECTS OF ANATOLIAN PROPOLIS ON PAENIBACILLUS LARVAE

چکیده
Paenibacillus larvae (P. larvae) is a pathogenic bacterium causing American Foulbrood Disease (AFB) in honeybee larvae. It necessary to develop alternative strategies for the control of this disease due serious colonies loses and use antibiotics. Recent studies are aimed at investigating natural fighting agents against P. In our study, it was demonstrate potential antibacterial efficacy ethanol extract Anatolian Propolis (EAP) strains PB35 SV35 which were isolated Turkey. The total phenolic content (TPC) flavonoid (TFC) EEAP determined as 181.73±5.20 mg Gallic Acid Equivalents (GAE)/g, 42.33±1.40 Quercetin (QE)/g, respectively. found that EAP contains different amounts ferulic, caffeic, coumaric acids, rutin, caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE). activity by using agar-well diffusion, microdilution, Bioscreen C techniques. Minimal Inhibition Concentration (MIC) values 74.87 ?g/ml strain both microdilution teqnique. techniques, Bactericidal (MBC) evaluated 149 598.4 SV35, fact shows low concentrations bacteriostatic bactericide strains, spore-forming bacilli, AFB disease, suggests may be source control.

Sporicidal activities of glutaraldehyde, sodium hypochlorite, povidone iodine, ethylene oxide gas, chlorhexidine gluconate, and didecyl dimethylammonium chloride on wet and dry spores of Paenibacillus larvae (basonym: Bacillus larvae) were evaluated for control of honeybee American foulbrood. Glutaraldehyde was found to have a strong and rapid effect on both the wet and the dry spores among the...
متن کاملIn vitro study of the antimicrobial activity of Brazilian propolis against Paenibacillus larvae.
The honey bee disease American foulbrood (AFB) is a serious problem since its causative agent (Paenibacillus larvae) has become increasingly resistant to conventional antibiotics. The objective of this study was to investigate the in vitro activity of propolis collected from various states of Brazil against P. larvae. Propolis is derived from plant resins collected by honey bees (Apis mellifera...
متن کاملRegional variation in composition and antimicrobial activity of US propolis against Paenibacillus larvae and Ascosphaera apis.
Propolis is a substance derived from antimicrobial plant resins that honey bees use in the construction of their nests. Propolis use in the hive is an important component of honey bee social immunity and confers a number of positive physiological benefits to bees. The benefits that bees derive from resins are mostly due to their antimicrobial properties, but it is unknown how the diversity of a...
متن کاملDetection of Paenibacillus larvae larvae spores in honey and diseased larvae Samples by culture and PCR
American foulbrood (AFB) is the most serious brood disease of the honey bee. Traditional methods are reliable but rather slow simply because they are based on biochemical, morphological and physiological identification of cultivated isolates. The aim of this study is the detection of Paenibacillus larvae larvae spores in honey and diseased larvae samples by culture and PCR. Therefore 54 samp...
